"Lottery" promotion gone wrong

Wow... apparently the news is that hundreds of New Yorks woke up this morning believing they had won a 100,000 dollars due to a misprint in the Daily News' own lottery. The Daily News is saying that they published the numbers given to them by the judging agency and that they will have special 'run off' contests for those affected.

Um... special run off contests? I for one would be pissed beyond belief. They played the game and they lost. They might be better off paying up and chalking it up as a loss rather than face the legal disputes they will see for who knows how long.

I would fully agree with you on the damage control part... if not for legal issues then also their brand equity is at stake!
