| Got New Marketing Job & Need Advice Hi, Got a new job where my responsibilities are to increase sales for an internet based business that sells these new teeth whitening systems, whereby an individual is able to take their own impressions of their teeth, mail the impressions back to a lab and the bleaching trays are made and sent back to them (the exact same process dentists use when making bleaching trays). Anyhow, the competition is so fierce online and they're needing to generate some huge sales off the net. I was considering running an ad to hire sales reps on 100% commission basis but want to know if this is an effective way and how should I train these individuals. Some of the other dist. are very successful at selling these to tanning/beauty salons. I'd like to target those and I'm trying to think of others. Plus, what type of commission do I pay these reps -- do I pay ongoing commissions so they'll continue to manage the businesses they sign-up (pay them each time their store owner buys from them??) I'm new to this and I need to make this work so I can keep this job - they agreed to hire me on a 90 basis to see results and I get a small, really small salary because after the 90 days they're going to pay me on results (commissions) so I need to generate a lot of sales so I can keep working. Here are a list of sites that do exactly what we do so you can get an general idea as to how the system I'm selling works: http://prowhiteteeth.com/products2.html http://www.totalteethcare.com/tooth-whitening.html http://www.precisiondentalworks.com/...r_process.html Any advise on ways to market this offline would be great! I need all the ideas I can get. I start Monday and need to do something that get immediate results or whereby we can see the results coming... Our systems come in a great package so I know it'll blow store owners minds away when they see the box. Carl |

Put together a binder with pictures of before and after, some fliers, a business card, and get out on the street and start knocking on doors. Call on dentists with a great discount deal so they can get it done for peanuts and charge an arm and a leg. They love that! Go to the dental labs who sell to the dentists with a better deal. Go to the local pharmacies that are independent (the big ones are already in the business and will not be interested in you) and show them how they can make $$$ with your product. Show it, demonstrate it, and on weekends set up a booth with lots of before and after pictures at the local swap meet and practice your sales pitch, make it work in ten seconds or less and watch the money roll in. You are in a money-making business so go out there an sell! Everybody is wanting white teeth now days.... everybody wants strong abs even if they eat twenty Big Macs a week. You will not make a penny through the internet because everybody else is already low-balling the products. Take notes. Start composing a marketing system where you can hire off the street nobodies and teach them how to sell. Have you ever seen how the magazine crews cover an area? Once you learn how to get a signed contract after no more than three presentation, package it and teach it to recruits for your company. I know, this sounds corny, but that is the way it has been done since the first clay pot maker had to market their wares some five thousand years ago. Somebody has to make the stuff, and somebody has to sell the stuff. | Re: Got New Marketing Job & Need Advice Re: Selling custom impression dental bleaching systems to consumers... "I'm new to this and I need to make this work so I can keep this job - they agreed to hire me on a 90 basis to see results and I get a small, really small salary because after the 90 days they're going to pay me on results (commissions) so I need to generate a lot of sales so I can keep working." Set up a Rapid Four Prong Plan. Prong one - Leads development. Get a responsible list vendor to help you target your geographic market and hit hard and fast with a huge saturation with slick postcards. Be sure your list is well targeted, sanitized and if possible, wired. Hit multiple times. Let the cards push traffic to your call intake center (set one up live) and website. Prong two - Cooperative Marketing. Dig and dig more until you find a company offering a great deal on something dental for free or near free. (New type of toothpaste? Technical toothbrush? New device?) And PACKAGE that with your offer as an upgraded KIT so that you offer MORE than the competition. This is ADD ON value marketing. Also make this teaming company a client of yours. Prong three - Prepare a sales force to respond to prospects, both via phone and in person. Ideally, team one internal sales person with two or three external. If you do straight commission, prepare for constant training and high turn over, and at least offer an initial draw on sales closed. Prong Four: Proposal marketing. Conduct B2B sales but only with proper presentation. Bedazzle them (not bamboozle, lol) with a well put together presentation in proposal form complete with anticipated numbers etc. Set the appointments on phone and meet over working lunch (on you) and present the folio, have a cut-off point on your offer. Follow up with a sample for the decision maker of you can. Budget for and launch these objectives in reasonable order and project manage implementation and the progress weekly. Track and code everything. Use pro consultants at each step. Adapting as needed. The whole time your doing this, do a bit of "corporate espionage". Keep tabs of your competitors moves, looking for do's and don'ts that you can apply as you go and grow. If you say I said it I'll deny it, lol. Work this four prong plan and you should fair well ~zion |
