Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations to make for software to handle
very large data volumes for list rental purposes. I need to be able to
load many millions of rows (100's) into an intelligent and fast query
tool. We would need to make rapid counts over vast data sets and
extract data in various formats, as well as handle the DM campaigns in
terms of excluding previous orders, mail sorting, invoicing etc. I'm
aware of the likes of Smartfocus and Alterian but would also like some
alternatives, does anyone have any experience in this area that they
would be kind enough to share? Thank you.

You might check out J (http://www.jsoftware.com/). I haven't done what
you describe, but I've read others on their forum talking about the ease
and speed of handling very large data sets.

SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) is very powerful option
