Advertising in the yellow pages

Is it still worth advertising in the yellow pages with people having access to the internet?

Re: Advertising in the yellow pages

I think it is if you are in the service business i.e. taxi, handyman etc because people still look there for those types of services you may also want to advertise in there if your target market would likely not have easy access to the internet (poor) or do not use it (elderly)

Re: Advertising in the yellow pages

Part of the problem in advertising in the yellow pages is trying to determine which one - there are several now and how do you know which one is going to get you the most bang for your buck. I would advise you against it.

Re: Advertising in the yellow pages

Most yellow pages now have an online yellow pages as well. The one I'm currently in gives active links to my website from the online yellow pages.

I think it is like everything else that you have to experiment by trying it. However, if most of your competition is advertising in the yellow pages they are probably doing it for good reason

Re: Advertising in the yellow pages

We have found ti to be very helpful because many of the yellowbooks are highly ranked you get the best of both world online and offline advertising. But longer term I think they are becoming a thing of the past.

Re: Advertising in the yellow pages

i think it is but i think it would be best to also submit your business to the online yellow pages and if there a website where people can go to find businesses in your local area it'd be good to submit there too.
there is also google local, yahoo local...etc
this way you will be reaching people no matter where they are looking, alot of people still use phonebooks but there also seems to be a transition going to where the thing to do is 'google it'.
for me when i need to find something i look to google...i have google as the homepage for my phones browser so if im driving and need to know where that hareware store, pet store, coffee shop is i google it.
ah well im rambling hope that helped
