I see that a lot of people ask for funding through online forums - has anyone had any experience with that. It seems to me that there could be a big potential for fraud with someone asking for money online. Any thoughts?

Check out the Go Big Network. They have forums to ask questions just like this one. The network is for small businesses looking for funding so you will get answers to those questions.

I had a friend try to raise some money on a couple of online forums and they ended up being a waste of time for him. There were a lot of tire kickers and a lot of people who just wanted to understand his business model. Based on his experience I would think twice about it.

Sorry, I did not understand the original question (I scanned it). It is true, no one will fund a company through a forum.

I tried to get investors in a franchise that I wanted to buy via posts on an online forum and did not get any viable candidates. I think you have to go the more traditional route.
