Yahoo!'s new Home Page.

Today Yahoo! unveiled a new beta home page with some tweaks and a tableless design. What are your opinions of the new page?

I like the new design!

Like C.K. Prahalad [Professor, University of Michigan] says - "Experience is the brand." . I thinks that Yahoo is working on it!

Google started the *Make the HomePage Simple* Trend and it seems that people are still learning from it!

Yahoo being a Portal can't trash all the links to the additional services that they offer, but they are getting very close to Simplicity .

But Honestly, I can't call this re-design a Makeover but tweaking!

I noticed these changes -
Music button on the top of the home page.

A more organized home page with alphabetical product listings.

Customizable navigation buttons.

Weather Updates.

A single search box

A streamlined directory for searching by topic.

Removal of direct link to HotJobs.
Anything that I missed???

Well the 3 left buttons in the header links change on how you use the site. For example, those three buttons for me are "Groups", "News" and "Finance". If I sign out, they become "Finance", "Music" and "Shopping". I can also hard code them to specific features.

Since Yahoo! is my homepage I very much like the changes and have already made sure I am in "Beta" mode so I get the updated page. Will make things a lot easier in the future. Loads faster as well.

It will be interesting to see how they integrate MusicMatch and the idea of selling songs online into the homepage and how they market against iTunes and Napster.

The site does not load for 100% It instantly shows 'doesn't exist'. If it works for someone, can we please have a screenshot?

[update] OK, never mind..... Wayne made a typo and I didn't catch it first. :titanic:

The new design is very nice, I really like it. Much more professional than their existing one. Good overview, good positioning of content and easy to navigate menu.

I like it too. A lot less cluttered. I've never been a fan of the yahoo portal in general as there always seemed to be too much to take in at once. The new design stills contains a lot of info but it's seperated a lot better.

I like it a lot. And it seems like they worked very hard on it as its working in all the browsers I have installed.

Someone said it didn't work in Opera yet but they might have fixed that by now.

I like it. It looks much cleaner than the older one, more professional as well.

After using, I find everything I want from the portal right at my fingertips. This could be more of the adaptive technology that they been introducing but it is great. I don't have to dig deep into the site to actually get at stuff anymore.
