Making Money on the Internet

Given the boom **** on the web do you think it is easier or more difficult to make money on the web. Certainly there is more competition but there is also more people online. What are you thoughts?

Re: Making Money on the Internet

Technically, it should be more easy to make money now, but it is not.
The competition is much more, the scam sites are much more, the people surfing in Internet are more, but many of them are just looking for free resources only.

Needs lots of time, knowledge and dedication in order to make a successful online busines, I think.

Re: Making Money on the Internet

I think it is easier to make money with niche sites and more difficult to make money on sites that are appealing to a broad audience. The mass market approach now takes too much money and resources which make the niche approach more competitive.

I agree with mbm. I think it is much harder to make money on the internet you have to do much more marketing and be much more creative than you use to be. I think that there are a lot more sites but also a lot more sites that only put up a site and do nothing to it. It is the ones that work hard - the top 10% with a good idea that are successful

Re: Making Money on the Internet

I think with a good idea it is much easier. The most important reason is that the costs of building and maintaining a site have come way down. If you have a good concept you build it more profitably than you could in the past and there are more areas for you to advertise so you can better find your niche audience.

Re: Making Money on the Internet

I think it depends on the product you are selling. If you are selling a product that other people market i.e. books that people can quickly search for the lowest price, I think that is a difficult market to be in because people are buying only on price. A small business whos model is to be the low cost supplier will fail. On the other hand if you have a product that no one else markets I think it is easier today than it has been in the past to make money.

Re: Making Money on the Internet

I agree you do not want to be fighting a price war it is a no win situation. The products you sell should be unique. As was mentioned in the previous post. However, I think because of the competition it is harder to make money on the internet and it is also hard to have a unique product because it gets duplicated so quickly.
