| Independent contractors and insurance I operate a video production company and I hire a number of independent contractors...freelancers...to help out on shoots. Moving lights, setting up equipment etc. I'm concerned about insurance liability if one of these guys injures themselves on a project. I know I am covered for property damage...and I want to be properly covered for injury, since they aren't full time employees what should I be asking my insurance agent? |

| Re: Independent contractors and insurance You could ask them to insure themselves similar to when you hire a contractor and they advertise they are bonded and insured. I think the best thing you can do is make sure the independent contractors are really independent there is a whole series of rules that must be followed in order for them not to be considered employees. |
