Re: Health Proposal My understanding is that largely it will penalize the larger companies by taxing the benefits offering some uninsured workers some benefits. I do not think that this will impact small business owners.

Re: Health Proposal The WSJ reported today that the the 17 million Americans who buy their own coverage would be big winners. An example they gave was that a family making $60,00 would wind up with a tax savings of $4500 which would offset the cost of acquiring coverage in many states. In general I think it is good for small businesses.

Re: Health Proposal I agree instead of giving employers an unlimitted deduction and indivduals none, Mr. Bush would give every family a $15,000 deduction ($7500 for individuals) regardless of their insurance source - which I think would be great for sole proprietors or small companies that do not offer insurance.

Re: Health Proposal It is being argued by some that the proposal will give larger employers that excuse to not to provide health coverage because the employees will be able to get it on their own with the tax break. Thus ultimately having less people with health insurance - I am not sure this is an easy solution.
