Where is the best place to find professional employees

What has been your experience finding quality employees for a professional service firm? Where do you find them? Do you pay employees referral fees? Do you use online avenues, newspapers or other means to attract candidates?

Re: Where is the best place to find professional employees

I just have one other employee so I cannot say that I am an expert but I have always found that working with somebody first always helps. I work as a consultant at many firms and get exposure to a lot of employees while I am on a project. As long as the client is ok with it or you will not get repeat business from them - you may want to look to them.

Re: Where is the best place to find professional employees

In my former life we had an employee referral program. We paid an employee $2000 if the employee they referred stayed with the company more than 1 year. It was a win win situation - the current employee got paid the new employee finds a job and the employer gets an employee that at least one other person finds them competent.

We outsource all of our work so we get most of the "employees" from sites like Guru.com - The world's largest online marketplace for freelance talent. and Outsourcing to Freelance Programmers, Web & Logo Designers, Writers, Illustrators on Elance then you do not have the burden of having insurance & other cost associated with having an employee.

I agree especially if you work at a small firm where you are expected to do many things and to work as a team. In a small firm if someone does not pull their weight then it really impacts the firm

Re: Where is the best place to find professional employees

This is one of my weaknesses. I've had 7 book keepers in 7 years and finally found one I really like.

I have a ****ager working for me, she's very local.

If I were going to hire my next employee, I'd pay the money and go to an employment firm.
