Question B2B Bid Offers

If there are a variety of wholesalers and retailers in my area who are selling the same products that I need. How should I go about getting the cheapest one? Should I write a letter to each company explaining to them my business purpose and ask them for what their lowest prices are for the certain products that I may need? Should I also tell them that I'm sending letters to the other companies in the area and make it a battle to see which company gets my business? If you understand what I'm trying to say, what are your comments on the idea?

Advice PLEASE!

- Sean

Cheapest isn't always best. This is more true for buying services than buying products but you have to remember the general rule.... Service, Wuality and Price. Choose two.

Having said that, finding the lowest price isn't hard! Have you ever bought a car from a dealer?

First off call each supplier and tell them what you intend to order and ask them to fax/email you a written price. This will tell you alot about the company and how professional they are. Second nothing is fixed in stone until there are two signatures and a deposit. That means their first proposal might not be their last proposal.

I admit I am a master at beating up my suppliers for their best rate. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. The first step is in asking for a discount. "Supplier X, I would prefer to do business with you but based on the volume I plan to do, Suppluer A had given me better pricing."

I sold a roofing job for $897,000.00 You shoulda seen the suppliers bidding war via fax for that one! LOL so many dead trees.
