| Google Adsense Display prob Hi, I have Windows XP Automatic Updates switched on and received some updates last night. Since then, Google Adsense ads aren't appearing on any website I visit using Internet Explorer 6. Just want to check with anyone else who is fully up to date with Windows updates if they are still seeing Adsense ads? I been into Security Settings and I have Scripting turned turned on. Hopefully it's just a blip on my PC - it would be a mighty blow if MS caused Adsense ads not to appear by default. Cheers Rob |

Undoubtedly, your JavaScript settings are messed up. Double-check them. | Re: Google Adsense Display prob >>it would be a mighty blow if MS caused Adsense ads not to appear by default. << There's some people who say Google adsense spam should be treated in exactly the same way as pop-up / pop-under windows. Maybe Google toolbar 3.x will have a "Block Adsense" button along with block pop-up option. MSN and Yahoo already seem to demote sites that have adsense or only list the home page. It would be ironic if the web owners showing adsense or overture/yahoo ads become the next battle ground in the SE's war with each SE trying to kill off their opponants web owners adverts. Jack |

Unless some ratware was installed on your machine, there is no reason why AdSense should be targetted specifically. Have you checked AdSense on different domains? Moreover, do you even mind the fact that it's not showing up? There is a pure-CSS ad block for Firefox that stops them from appearing and it only makes browsing richer. Roy -- Roy S. You can generalise it to all adverts. Google Adverts are just so common that it's easy and safe (from content's point-of-view) to block them. > Maybe Google > toolbar 3.x will have a "Block Adsense" button along with block pop-up > option. Good point. I think that while Google shines, one would rather stick to AdSense. Perhaps one day the delivery of search results will have have laws applied which are similar to newspapers. Results will need to be unbiased from an algorithmic point-of-view. Wouldn't that mean opening all the source though? Roy -- Roy S. Schestowitz http://Schestowitz.com |
