Re: Effective Online Ads

Be sure to use your keywords in your title and even in the description when you can. If possible, start your title with the keyword or keyword phrase. For the description, understand that people want to accomplish or learn something, be entertained or take advantage of an offer. People are motivated by fear, money, hope, lust, despair, health, safety, education, appearance, status etc. (Although maybe not all at the same time!) You will want to include a reason for someone to choose to respond to your ad and take action. Care about their problem and create an emotional statement using action oriented language. Remember W.I.I.F.M. What’s in it for me?

Re: Effective Online Ads

Look at what your competition is doing and try to change the keyword location closer to the beginning of the sentence. Also make sure that you customize the ad for each product that you sell.

If possible make sure that you tie in a free promotion to get them to visit your site and put together a customized landing page for each of your products that you are promoting otherwise you could be spending a lot of money on click throughs and receive no sales.

Re: Effective Online Ads

Think about what attracts you to an advertisement. If you dont know you should as a small business owner you should be looking at ads for ideas. Typically people are drawn initially to the ad through the headline. Like a good newspaper story the title should be compelling. Spending time on the title is time well spent and I agree with some of the other postings that you want to make sure you study what the competition is doing.

Re: Effective Online Ads

I think the most effective ads are the ones that appeal specifically to the product or service you are looking for. If you are looking for a washing machine and there is no mention of it in the ad and only mentions appliances I am far less likely to click on it than I am an ad that says washing machines. I am even more likely to click on it if it says the brand I am looking for. Be specific!!!

Re: Effective Online Ads

The title /head/ line is most important. People skip the content of the add if the title line is not of interest. They often scan the headlines first and if something "capture" the eye they look for details.

Attractive headline, but what is written in the add, especially in the head line, such content should be found in the landing page. If it is different you pay the click, but got no customer.
