AdSense + AdLinks

I just Saw this ->

Google never stops experimenting.... perhaps they are getting their army of PHDs to work overtime to come up with optimization ideas.

You only get paid when the user clicks on actual ad, right? When the user clicks on ad link, you don't get paid for it, do you?

I believe that is correct. I may be wrong though. I personly don't use adlinks currently.

Well, the problem there is that sometimes Adsense won't show relevant ads. I've seen some that are spot on with the ads it's serving, and then I've seen some that make me shake my head in disbelief. I figure they'll get better with this as time goes by.

That was happening on my site (with ad units), so I wrote AdSense support. They investigated and somehow fixed the problem. Hopefully they would be able to do the same thing with any ad links serving wack-o results.

That's cool that they were able to adjust something. How off were the ads?

I ask because I have a site with a bunch of subdomains, and the subdomains have their own topics. Sometimes the subs get great targetting, but then the subdomain ads will default to the theme of the homepage of the site instead of the themes already detected in the subdomain.

That's almost EXACTLY the sort of thing that happened to me. I installed a searchable directory of all the pages on my sites. There are several different categories, but some of the ads on the category pages were showing the site's general, overall theme instead of the specific topic.

They had me give them a list of the different sections that were wrong. Everything got worked out in a day or so.
