Hi

This board seems to be a good resource. Thanks! Hey i'm stephen, i live in the sunny(usually) southwest. I'm an advanced amateur disc golf player and i hope to be on the pro tour next year. Since i really love the game of disc golf and i know a lot about the game i decided to open a business revolving around it. I officially launched my websites and ebay store in september and i'm pretty much getting slammed. I have a business plan but what is happening even in the first month is seemingly making my forecasting a bit low. Um, 3-400% low. I don't know how to handle this much accounting because i wasn't expecting it to take off like this. I thought i'd be able to teach myself quickbooks in time but now orders, ordering and shipping along with running 2 main websites and 4 mirrors takes up more time than i planned on. I'm going to go into the albuquerque score chapter for help ...

Disc golf forum is getting hit pretty hard.. i offer free hosting to disc golf clubs and 2 have already signed up this month. it got 3000 hits last month(it's first full month online) and it already has taken over 1500 this last week.
The sites seem to be boosting each other and i usually see a direct correlation between online discgolfforum browsers and my ebay auctions shooting up and store sales as well.

Sounds like a good problem to have. You've targeted a niche market and seem to have the right formula. Sponsoring a community related to you product is usually a great way to help business.

thanks, i'll look forward to chatting with you too... i really found a passion in trying to learn this business thing because i'm having so much fun... computers, disc golf, meeting people. It's hard work but it does not seem so. I've already found so many new ideas, and links in just an hour or so in this forum. The web management forum i found especially helpful already.

well, you know the general rules for golf right, ...par 3, par 4, birdie, bogey, out of bounds, etc?? well disc golf is essentially the same concept but instead of driving with a 3 wood you drive with a specialized frisbee type disc. but don't think frisbee... these things are not frisbees and they'll hurt you pretty bad if you get hit by an errant throw. and instead of putting into a hole you "putt" a putter disc(yes there are hundreds of different types of aerodynamically original discs) into a disc goal. you can see pictures of the stuff on the eagle site, and you can see pictures of people playing at discgolfforum in the new mexico disc golf forum. 'rosie pics' topic

Wow Stephen, I can't tell you how jealous I am of you... I feel like I am going through a "mid-life crisis" (I'm only 32) because I so badly want to do something I am passionate about, like you were able to do with disc golf. I am a huge tennis player and all around sports fan, but just can't find how I can make money with it...

By the way, I live in Dallas and see disc golf around the suburbs quite a bit and the courses are PACKED! Best of luck to you.

This is the first time ive ever heard of disk golf. It sounds interesting, fun but you dont have to do much exercise, just like bowling. Are you thinking of bringing it out to Australia?

hi stephen,
This is my first time to hear this. I hope you do well. You also can list your disc golf in my auction site. Bidmonkey.com. We are free to list and sell. Currently, we have over 6000 users, you may try to list in other free auction too. Just a suggestion.

thanks!

wow, you all rock. Thanks so much for your kind words. kevin c,(i'm 32 too) i feel real lucky and completely stressed right now. If you ever want to jam your keyboard brainstorming about how you could make a living doing what you love... start a topic about it, send me an e mail, and i'll definitely participate and throw ideas at you. Disc golf is getting huge in texas, 108 courses there. I moved to new mexico for a reason. There are 10 courses here. I'm already starting to talk to ski resorts about my businesses disc golf course installation services. Plus i can supply the resorts with all their "resale equipment" custom printed equipment etc. New mexico has the weather for year round golf, especially the southern half. But all this is happening at once along with my ebay store which i can barely keep up with itself. At the same time my dad is in the northeast getting leads at colleges &c.

mumble, one of the major misperceptions is that disc golf is the physical equivalent of ball golf... untrue. A good percentage of disc golf courses are on very rugged terrain... no fairways, no clubhouse. Hiking boots.
