Have you ever tried Blogs for marketing?

I was just wondering that how many of you have ever used Blogs as a marketing tool? Well, they are pretty effective to create a word and also, they are viral in nature - You make a good post and people get orgasmic over it and start linking to it from their own blogs / sites.

I am running a Blog at LordBrar.com but honestly, I am not being able to find time to maintian it ! But now I am going to take that blog more seriously and use it to sort of promote PulseToday.com

Here's my question for you -> Have you ever tried to use a blog / weblog to promote your products / business / services?

Hmm... That's something I've not heard about! Yes, they worked and agreed to not follow the links posted in the comments by supporting the rel="nofollow" tag but err. ignore commercial blogs? Nope I don't think so! This way google would have to ignore its own google blog

I would really love to know the source where you got the above info from!

And as for avatars, I had messed up with the usergroup permissions. Thanks for bringing it to my notice, It's working now! You may upload a custom avatar in the User CP.

Not sure where I heard that from - I think it was from another forum somewhere. If I remember I'll check back!

As you know pulse, on your advice, I'm going to experiment with a blog as a marketing tool in my forthcoming TECK Reviews project We'll see how it goes!

I've started a blog on my site, partially as a way of making the page's content change regularly (to keep the SEs happy) and partially because I like writing about stuff! I don't know how many of my clients (prospective or otherwise) will be reading it though, although this isn't something I'm aiming to get them to do.

A client that I'm working with now is toying with the idea of starting a blog/news page on his upcoming site, I don't know exactly how he feels about it yet though. It wasn't my idea (it was the SEO guy who suggested it) but I don't think it's a bad thing for him to do, not only for search engine visibility but also to give the site more of a human edge.

I'll post back here when I hear more about it

-Sam
