google can't even find an airlines' site

search for

gol airlines brazil

GOL is the name of a low-cost airline in brazil.

Yahoo gets it at 1 and 2. Google shows us a M$ customer service
satisfaction summary! And the airlines site is nowhere.

How long is it going to take before this silly idea that G is cool
dies?

Long time. It's been crap for ages. It just doesn't taste like crap.
It's like supermarket food, doesn't actually give you nutrition but
looks and tastes and smells like it does. The scholar bit is going to
be the same, from what I'm hearing.

The GOL website is pathetic. If they care about appearing in search engines
they should start using valid HTML and putting some alt text in their
images. And they should get rid of the idiotic Javascript redirect on their
home page. This is totally GOL's problem. Moan to them about it.

It's certainly GOL's problem. Anyone browsing to their website with
Javascript turned off will see only a completely blank page. So, when
Googlebot comes visting, it sees nothing, and ignores it.

Well I don't care if their website is pathetic I wasn't searching for
a well SEO - optimised site, I was wanting flight info from the
airline direct.

Anyway Yahoo gets it.

So Yahoo is better than Google at finding what I want .... :-)

Which makes Google pathetic in my eyes cos it throws up a load of crap
that's been well seo'd. Just wish the rest of the world could be
convinced .... [guess who does better on yahoo serps than google :-)]

on the other hand if you typed in:

> Gol Linhas A?reas

GOL Airlines is the first result.

If you has searched for just

> Gol

it is the 2nd result in Google.

Since I don't speak portugese, that' not so simple.

This is true but again google is unhelpful (and wose than yahoo).

google shows me titles for results 2/3 for search GOL (all I scan
before making the a more specific search gol airline etc.)

2. www.voegol.com.br/index_ie.htm
3. Checando browser

Neither tell me enough (doing a quick scan only) to think they are
what I want.

Only if I actually read the text under #3 will I work out that it's
probably the site I want (which I wouldn't ever do when doing this
sort of search)

Yahoo on the other hand when asked for GOL gives

2......:GOL:..:LINHAS A?REAS INTELIGENTES:......

which is enough for me in quick scan mode to see it's what I want.

So Yahoo once again gives a much more helpful result.

IOW Yahoo is better than google.
