Does .com rank higher than other extentions?

Well, I've seen this question being asked a lot of times - Do .com sites rank better than other extensions like .net, .org, .us etc. ?

Well, the answer is NO! Extensions don't matter. While it is true that country specific search engines may give country specific TLDs ( like .co.uk , .in , .co.jp, .cn, .us etc ) more weight over other extensions but it is usually not the real rank determining factor.

However, .com has a better advantage when it comes to branding. Most people have this extension cemented in their head as most of marketing during the internet boom years (and even now) was done by those companies which had .com in their URLs.
