Thanks for starting this forum I think it will be helpful to share ideas with other consultants.

My biggest challenge as a consultant is resources - rather too many or too little. I have one other consultant that works for me and sometimes we are starving for business and other times we have too much business and we are working 12 hour days - it is hard to manage these peak periods.

Mine is attracting and retaining talented staff

We deal with a lot of technology implementations and as a small firm we cannot afford to own many of the applications that we help implement and with the changing technology it is hard for us to keep up with new versions and enhancements

I agree with everything above - managing the work from a even flow standpoint and then managing the corresponding staffing requirements is tough. It can be feast or famine. That and, for me at least, wondering where the jobs are going to come from 3-4 months from now!

Ours is time and trying to balance all the things we want to accomplish.
