What is the best approach for naming a consulting practice - use your own name? Use a generic term? Using a term that describes the consulting that you do? We are in the process of rebranding and would like some feedback. Thanks.

I think it is best to have a name that clearly shows you are a consultant but is generic enough for flexibility in your business

I think it is important to think about a name that can be sold when you are finished and one that is specific to your industry

I think a large driver should be what you can get for a domain name and build your brand around that.

The best of all worlds is to find a name that is somewhat specific but still gives you flexibility and you can find a good domain name

Don't use your own name. When you are ready to retire or want to sell, you business will either be worth less or worth nothing.

A book that I would recommend is "E-Myth" by Michael Gerber. It will help you make a decision on a good name that will be worth something in the longterm.

I agree if you are going to be doing a lot of online businesses you have to get a decent domain name and you should consider your branding around that.
