Training online?

Has anyone tried training online? We wanted to learn how to use Dreamweaver and were looking at classes around here but they were pretty expensive and was wonder how good the training is online because it is much cheaper than the onsite locations.

Re: Training online?

We hired someone to walk us through some of the more difficult aspects of Dreamweaver over the phone while we are both looking at the same file. It was less expensive than going to a class and more customized because we got the answers to the questions that we needed.

Re: Training online?

We have done some online training and I have to say nothing beats having a classroom full of people and the interaction it brings. As well as not having to stare at a screen for 3 hours.

Re: Training online?

We have tried training online and have not found a good solution. It is never as interactive as you want and the session gets dumbed down to the lowest common demoninator. If someone has a great resource I would like to hear about it.

Re: Training online?

You have to find the right company/technology. There are many online colleges. If they can conduct a course online you should be able to go through the same process to learn Dreamweaver.

Re: Training online?

I agree if you can get a degree online you should be able to take a Dreamweaver course online and get most of the benefits of taking an in person course.

Re: Training online?

I recently found an article from Wired that I thought you maybe interested in you have to click on the thumbnail on the left hand side of the screen to see the Podcasts they recommend but it can give you a flavor of where the industry is heading. See their comment below:

To college freshmen, they're just another reason to sleep late. But for the rest of us, the explosion of course podcasts – audio and video – are an invitation to enter the classrooms of Harvard, UC Berkeley, and dozens of other institutions. The only problem: finding lectures that won't make you wish you'd downloaded Ask a Ninja instead. To help, we sorted through hundreds of offerings and picked our faves for a winter-quarter playlist. (All are free and, except for CERN's series, available from the iTunes Store.) Load up a few the next time you feel like jogging to grand unified theory instead of Grand Funk Railroad.

Re: Training online?

Interesting article and programs. It will be interesting to see how this is going to evolve over the next 5 years. 20 years from now most of the brick and mortar schools will have either gone online or go out of business.
