Sitepoint's Search Engine Marketing Kit

Has anyone purchased this kit? If so, I have a few questions. I would ask them on the SitePoint site but there everyone will say yes to these.

First off, know that I do not provide web design, SEO or any kind of development services for any customers. I work on my own websites and businesses and am an employee of Jelsoft Enterprises. This would be for my own personal usage on my websites. With that in mind is it geared more towards the SEO business or tweaking your individual sites for ratings?

Looking at the list of the CD contents, is there anything worthwhile if you do not want to sell SEO services?

Finally, would you recommend this to friends. If not, what would you recommend.

Nope. I don't even think that I would be buying it, even though I do plan to offer seo as a service at out new agency. The reason - I got a better resource than this

From the excerpt that I've seen there, It seems to be oriented more towards running an SEO agency... but well, you can't sell that service if you don't know how to SEO in the first place

Nope. I don't think that I'd ever need the things on that CD for SEOing my own sites.

I'd recommend SEOBook.com. That book is honestly the best SEO Manual that I've ever read and comes with lifetime updates and Aaron is pretty active in SEO Communities, so the book is going to be maintained pretty well. And cos of these lifetime free updates, you'd not need to spend 195 again when Google updates I usually get an update for the book nearly every month!

I had reviewed the book here - http://www.lordbrar.com/what-i-think...obook-now.html

:-/ That page contains an affiliate link but feel free to not use it and just to be clear, that review was written long before I joined as an affiliate with Aaron.

Also, the book is in a print friendly format!

Thanks will look into the second option as well. Did a brief look and the only downside that I can see is that it doesn't have a printed version. I really dislike eBooks...

Yes, that is a problem but it is Print Friendly... I myself had printed it for reading it in the loo

Anyway, I forgot to add one thing in the first post of mine - Have you read Dan's blog at SP? How do you like his writing style? I personally found it to be pretty dull and somehow could not find myself reading the whole of his posts. :-/ But then that's me.

I didnt know about this so I went over to take a look. $197 is a bit of change but the $150 in click thru links might be a nice incentive if you were planning to toss money over there anyway. At the very least its a business write-off but still... I'll read the sample chapter later on today.

It's a decent enough book, but I honestly dont' know why it's not a $34.95 standard book type thing. I've read just about every SEO book out there, and can say for the casual webmaster with a casual interest in SEO, you're just as well to buy SEO for Dummies.
