Looking to buy new franchise

I am looking to buy a franchise but I am unsure of which franchise to buy. I want to make sure that the franchise I buy is something "fail-proof" and something with good profit potential. I would really like to Buy a franchise that is easy to maintain and that doesn't require an exorbitant amount of money to maintain.I also want to buy a franchise that is "In Demand" and that will appreciate in value in the future. Coffee Shop Franchises are good I know because everyone drinks coffee but I'm not sure what type of franchise I want to buy. Does anyone know what the profit potential of a Coffee Shop vs say a Fast Food establishment is? Please Post!

Re: Looking to buy new franchise

I think if you find a franchise that does not have much competition around you and a franchise that you enjoy running the profits take care of themselves. Most franchises are designed to earn more than a 15-20% return each year after franchise fees so they may a decent income. Generally speaking (and no surprise) the more money you spend the more you have a potential to earn.

Re: Looking to buy new franchise

The problem with coffee franchises is that because of the profit potential (like the pizza franchises) there is a lot of competition and price becomes a factor - unless you are starbauchs of course. I would suggest you review some of the UFOCs of the prospective companies many contain earnings statements that could give you an indication on the profitablity of the business.

Re: Looking to buy new franchise

The best thing you can do is build a rapport with some of the franchisees that you are interested in and ask them:

What did it actually cost to get a unit up and running to the break-even point in terms of current operations? How did that number compare to the estimates in the UFOC?

Re: Looking to buy new franchise

If you find what you are looking for, let me know it sounds like it would be too good to be true to have a fail proof concept that does not cost a lot of money. Good luck!
