Is it worth getting a trademark/servicemark? We are a small business and have not applied for a service mark on our logo is it worth it for small businesses? It seems like an expense that makes more sense once you get to a mid size level - What are your thoughts?

Re: Is it worth getting a trademark/servicemark? We have not applied for one either we felt if someone wanted to steal our brand that would be fine provided they promoted it because we really do not have a brand. I think most small business owners overestimate the value of their brand. Obviously if you have a distinctive tag line and look and feel with a cool name you may want to consider trademarking it but otherwise I wait until you are alittle bigger.

Re: Is it worth getting a trademark/servicemark? It is not too expensive and I think it is worth it if you have a decent name and when you go on the web and do not find anyone who is using the name the same way that you are.

Re: Is it worth getting a trademark/servicemark? There are services and companies that can do it fairly inexpensively if you have been around for more than a few years and you have a viable business model then I would definately spend the money to get a service or trade mark it will improve the value of your business.
