My wife and I are looking to invest in a small business that we have been using the past year. We were offered the investment option to buy the business within the next year; my question is, where do I start?

We know that we need to look at the books, the most important. We have a family investor on the line right now, finance would be at least 1/2. Also how do I present an investment oppurtunity to another party? Any help woould be great, thanks.

I plan on running the business, my wife will keep her present job. I have talked to another interested party about maybe being a partner with me. It all depends on the numbers of course.

We would pay someone to look over the books and give us the bottom line on alot of the questions that you posed. I am researching alot of those same questions.

I'm will retire from the military in mid 2008, I don't know it it would qualify or be benificial to use the VA Small Business financing or not, any thoughts?
