Vodfone Live! Whut's on that girl's eye?

Company: Vodafone Live!

Media: Print

The Register's Comments about this ad:

Quote:
On the surface, it seems plausible enough - a free video messaging phone with all the usual gratis bits and bobs. However, it's not entirely clear what message Vodafone was intending to convey with the rather startling image accompanying the ad. By the shocked look on the poor girl's face, she has inadvertently picked an inopportune moment to wander onto the set of some hideous Swedish smut production, and has paid the price.

If Voda was intending to create a bit of pre-Xmas mobile excitement with the snap, then we reckon it's missed a trick. After all, the full strapline should clearly read: "Free video messaging phone: because Santa comes just once a year". ?
On a sidenote... Even I am confused about How this creative is conveying the message?!?!

Snow. The guy in the picture on the phone is throwing a snow ball. It's meant to show how "realistic" the images through MMS are.

The Register have a way of making fun of everything. I think the ad only works properly once you've seen it on tv.

The chick looks very hot. The 'splat' on the other hand doesn't.

Vodafones advertising must be very effective though, being a customer myself.

I don't know if anybody has seen the Virgin Mobile 5 cents per minute ad's with 5cent in them. They're pretty cool.

I've been a vodafone customer since 1997. Just got a second mobile through them too.

Is that little guy "5cent" is he a real singer or a gimmick?
