That's based on a subscription number of 350,000!

Good thing for me, they rent out their list!

Thanks Richard, I'm gonna need it. BTW, Richard Marx sings a great song!

I agree with a few of the things that have been said you have to find a competitive advance over other magazines and I believe make it different then other magazines in the same group. If someone is already subscribing to Entrepreneur Magazine what is going to make them shell out another 30 bucks a year for yours?

Now with that said I don't find many things in entrepreneur magazine worth much it's pretty much a lot of people advertising "stuff" shall we say : ) I think there could be a market for something more technical then entrepreneur magazine but not big business focused like Forbs. something that talks about topics like:

Funding for small businesses (legit businesses and funding not the I need 10,00,000,000 dollars for a internet site that will beat aol, but I have no money.lol) In other words how to attract angel investors, Venture Capital Firm profiles, etc

Marketing topics

Start up business profiles

stuff like that is what I would focus on.

How to get advertisers (assuming the magazine looks as good as others and is well written). I would look to hire sales people that would be willing to work on commission. I would also got to as many business trade shows as you can and pass out free copies a good way to get the word out and drum up business.

There are many many other issues to starting a magazine. (who will print, how will you distribute, who will write etc)

Thumbs up One in a million!

At last! Some constructive criticism that helps not hinders! LOL

You and I think alike because those are the type of topics that WOULD be covered in the magazine. It's about how to start that business, not the usual mumbo jumbo ad-stories.

What would make others subscribe to Entrepreneur? Well, the first copy will go out free and a special offer of $1 for their first year subscription, or better yet for them, a free year if they send in the post card. So maybe they'd only have to spend 37 cents.

Magazines don't really make money off the subscribers, it's the advertisers that bring in the money. Your idea about commission will be applied towards advertising agencies.

To answer your questions:
Who will print is a hard obstacle, still searching for that.
Who will distribute will typically be the printer?
I have many freelance writers offering to write for me.

Thanks for the constructive criticism.

Do you know how much it cost to print and distribute a magazine?
Who's going to design the magazine for you, and do you realize how much that cost?
What about editing? Have you done that, do you plan to hire it out?

Getting people to agree to write articles is the easy part. You might consider trying to work at a publication for a few months, learn the ropes, before you invest a lot of $$$ into something like this.
