Email list building do's and don'ts.

Hey everybody,

I've recently begun building an opt-in email list for a pretty specific purpose (sending out a sample high paying keyword daily).

Would it be considered "bad etiquette" to add an advertisement below the sample in each email, or is that an acceptable practice?

Re:

Hey NewsGuy!

Are you talking about having an ad in your daily mailing? If so, that's pretty much expected in any newsletter.

But you said you're "building" a list, and I wonder if you mean adding an ad in your own email ad campaign. If this is the case, I wouldn't recommend doing that since you're trying to get people interested in what you're offering.

Did that answer your question?

I think people are going to expect to see some kind of advertising in a newsletter. As mvd mentioned, keep the quality content to ad ratio high and don't confuse your readers.
