website

The cost of starting my website... was nothing. I am using free hosting and free classified ads and free search engine submission. I wrote a very basic webpage in html. I do have a lot to learn about getting more traffic to my page. I do get some business from the internet from time to time, but my main source of income is elsewhere.

I think many of the domain registrars include hosting for free or very cheap.

After fooling around with real estate one of the things I really like about websites is the startup cost is almost nothing; except for your time.

I started mine myself, I got a copy of Frontpage 03 and taught myself. The thing that takes the time is optimising the site so you can be found, in my experience if you are not in the top 3 results for your keyword(s) you may as well not be there at all! The other alternative is pay per click, such as adwords, this will guarantee you traffic whilst you are optimising the site to appear naturally in the search engines.

$35

I had time back in 1999 and no money. So I took a class. Learned how to hand code and create my own sites.

The cost for a web site, on average is $100 to $200 per page not including text, graphics, forms, shopping carts, databases, etc.

Re: How much did it cost you to start a website for your business?

The best way to find out how much it will cost for your particular site is to put it out to bid on a site like elance or guru and evaluate the bids. Each site is different and it depends whether or not you are going to build a database. Our first site cost $500 we used someone in India.

We bought a template on Web Templates, Flash Templates, Website Templates Design - Template Monster and then modified it to our use. Our total cost was probably $100.

We use Network Solutions do-it-yourself web design pages. It's pretty easy and user friendly. I have zero knowledge of HTML and web design and I think my webpage came out pretty nice considering. It cost $120 a year. See below for our webpage.
