Agent in LLC

I was researching creating one-person Limited Liability Company in California, but I have no idea what exactly Agent or Agency means. I looked at Articles of Organization form on the website, and it requires to provide details about "Initial Agent for Sevice of Process." What does that mean? Could I (the owner) be that person? Maybe there's some website or other resources where I could find more information? Thanks for your help.
