Telephone Preference Service.

Your number is placed on a list that companies cannot call, if they do you complain to the TPS and the company can be fined.

It basically stops unsolicited marketing calls. I don't mind marketing calls as long as I have asked the company to contact me with offers.

The DNC is next to worthless and doesnt have the power to really do anything which is a shame. I used to work as a telemarketer though so I know all sorts of good ways to piss them off.

The TPS in the UK is effective though.

SMART goals

Well I hope you all use SMART goals and set long term ones as well.

Daily goals and tasks are great. Notepads, day planners, Outlook, all work well to keep the day to day going.

Long term, you need to set goals and nibble at them every day or week depending on the goal. SMART- Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Tangible.

Most people set long term goals, like "I want to make a million dollars". Lame, lame, lame, and those people probably never do it.
Others that say "I want to make a million dollars generated by my personal business, by the time I am 35 (realistic for us young pups) so that my family may enjoy the comforts of life and we can go to Disney World at least once a year until my kids are grown". Now the million bucks isn't really the important thing there now is it...so I could probably take it out and subsidize with "enough money".

Every small business owner should set goals for themselves, and for the business - franchises, increasing tangible value, number or quality of clients, etc. This will lead to business success. Guess I better go set some new Outbuy goals.
