Talking of your site, would it be possible for you to tell us its URL so that we could take a look at it and tell us if it is actually designed to convert people?
From your post it looks as if you are targeting people who are not used to the concept of online communities. This means that you are trying to build a new market for them.
Most offline 'conventional' businesses are skeptical of going online. You would get better response once you have proved that your system works!

Most of times people will NOT tell you what they want themselves. You would have to go out and ask them to tell you about it. And also, you would need to do some hit and trial to find the best thing that your market wants!
However, I would keep the rest of opinions to myself till I have actually seen the site
