Re: SEO Domain name question There is some value. For instance, I know for a fact that .org's get special attention from search engines like Google, just as long as the content is appropriate to educational sites.
I've seen some websites making good, though somewhat underhanded, advantage of this. But, hey? That's the business sometimes.
Anyway, if the .org has anything to say about it, then, 'Yes', there is an SEO value here. But I will add that whatever value exists between extensions like .com and .net are probably nothing a single backlink would not equal out.
Ultimately, the real value is in familiarity. I always try for .com's first, because .com's is where the Internet began. And when anyone says that they have a website, most people will assume a .com extension before any other. Whatever SEO advantage exists, it can't be worth more than that. |
