| Vonage Service Quote:
I've used Vonage for nearly 2 years. Great service and I love the low bills. My bill has never been over $100.00 per month.

| I was going to sign up for vonage until I found out that if I register a number with them I can not take it with me should I ever leave their services. I also decided not to use vonage for this reason... I have a DSL, I need a phone line to use a DSL, thus a need a conventional phone. The end result is two phones instead of one, and loss of performance on my DSL. |

| I think Skype is pretty cool too. I use it to talk to people overseas, and it works like a charm.

| Hi Grumpy, I don't know about the phone number portability issue. But I do know that I am running into more small businesses using Vonage these days. It's not just the early adopters anymore. Best, Anita

| This may we a stupid question to some of you but I've read just a little about Vonage in advertisments but what is it? Is it a telephone service through an internet line or what? I'm not quite sure. Thanks to any who reply. Sean |

| Anita it's definetly a viable solution. Please do not get me wrong, I was not knocking them! I was simply stating that at this point in time they are not viable for my business. Now that I have my numbers which are portable because I registered with someone else (go figure) I may consider them upon my next expansion. I think that if their numbers were portable I would have signed up with them instead of SBC. My toll free number is the bas eof all my advertising I couldn't settle for a number that isn't portable. Biz man, you are exactly riht. It is a phone service than runs thyough your net connection. The biggest draw back is that if your net connection were to fail for any reaosn, your phone connection would fail as well. Many many compaions are switching to VIOP ) vioce over internet prootcol). It's nto for eeryone but it is definetly worth the reasearch for your company. VOIP hs made major major improvements since it's inception. |
