| Well, actually - it is a low maintenance business. The whole domain name registration can be automated almost 99%. Once you have your platform running there is not that much work involved (other than normal business management (accounting, server administration, etc.)). You need to make sure you have enough funds to buy the names in wholesale or have your account funded properly. Support requests are usually seldom - especially if you have a really good FAQ area.
However - you will need a pretty high number to just live of domain name registrations. That's why if you look at GoDaddy and Enom - they offer tons of additional products and services.
