I don't know if I am posting in the correct forum but here goes:

I live in NJ, I am trying to find out the proper procedure for starting a manufacturing business. I'm interested in making trailers. I'm not looking for a get rich quick business. More like something that I can do on the weekends and/or at night, maybe make 1 trailer a month. Obviously if the business takes off I can adjust accordingly at that time. I know I could make trailers and register then as homebuilt and then sell them however I would like to know what I would have to do to become a trailer manufacturer. New Jersey does not issue titles for trailers ( at least not small trailers ). As a manufacturer I would supply a certificate of origin and a serial or Vin number. I have no idea where to even start looking for the information I am trying to obtain. Anyone have any ideas?
