Cruise

We are going on a cruise in March and I was wondering how we could make phone calls from the ship. I know we can call using their phones at $8 a minute but there has to be a cheaper alternative. We are traveling to Panama, Mexico, and some of the Carribean Islands.

We obviously want to stay in touch if any of our clients call our business number

Re: Cruise

You should purchase Skype for $30 and be able to make unlimited calls to the US - we have it and it works great but I have to say we never used it on a cruise ship

Re: Cruise

You should consider renting a satellite phone or a cell phone with access to the markets that you are going to. Of course that will not help you out at sea though (with the cell phone)

Re: Cruise

I heard that they do not allow you to use skype on board they block it or at least on some of the boards I have read people have not been successful. I think Celebrity or one of the companies has an agreement with Verizon where you can use your phone on board

We were grappeling with the same issue when we went on a cruise and could not get through on skype either and of course they would not let you download skype on their PCs

Re: Cruise

We have Verizon and we are going on a ship that does not have a Verizon tower but it was suggested to us that we may be able to connect using a ship that was in port with us using Verizon so we are going to try it the international option does not cost anything unless you make or receive a call.

I was just on RC Mariner of the Seas and tried using Skype and it did not work for me either - using their cell tower maybe the best way to go
