Your back up method

How do you back up your website? Do you use control panel? Do you back up your data in database? You do this everyday? Weekly?

I use a multi backup plan. First, I use hosts that backup their servers on a regular basis (daily). I wouldn't host a site I cared about with a company that didn't do that. Secondly, I keep my own backups at a third location. Currently, that's on a hard drive in my office. I'm developing a software that will backup all of my sites to a dedicated server that I will have located at a third location.

I've experienced hard drive failures, and it's been driven into me that you absolutely cannot be overly-protected for the potential disaster of data-loss. It's not enough to rely on a single method of backing up your data. You can't predict when a disaster will occcur, nor can you predict the nature of the disaster. Having multiple backups of my data in multiple locations is the same as having insurance, to me. Better, in fact, because with data backups I can be back up and running in less than a day, and with a minimal loss of data.

back-up

My site or webpage is very small. I keep a copy on disc. It is handy for making changes. I can edit my site and ftp it up when I think it is ready.

We have a back up on the server that does it every other day. The databases are backed up every day and we maintain the back ups for one month. We then also save a monthly back up for three months.

And we also have a local copy as well.

I just back up my database when I realize that I have too

I forget to do that and I only do it when I remember. As my site is a vB site...I just use their DB backup feature
