You'd not be very likely to find someone here who was already themselves using an seo firm as the only folk we tend to get here who are verging on that are usually asking for advice about someone they're thinking of hiring. Unless the firm in question are obvious crooks, not hard to spot, we don't know either. And we can't advise on your site unless we know the url. | Re: Anyone have a GREAT SEO that they can recommend for a shoppingsite? Thanks Al - that was more help than the rest. I appreciate it. As for posting the site here in public forum, that is just plain bad advice for anyone. A better suggestion would for someone to email you the url. Otherwise, maybe I should just go and send my competitors an email and let them know what I am up to? While I see that sometimes you give some folks good advise, that was off the mark. But I still thank you for trying to help. The only reason I replied to this was that hopefully to recommend to others reading this not to post their URL into public view, unless you want your competitors to make the same changes to their site as you are. :-) NEVER let em see you bleed - Big Bill wrote: > On Sun, 13 Mar 2005 07:43:26 +0000, Alan Cole <justal@lineone.net> > wrote: > > >>In article <udKYd.49458$xX3.32846@twister.socal.rr.com>, >>Mike <please@spam-me-not.com> wrote: >> >> >>>I was looking for more of a recommendation from someone that used >>>professional services rather than a self proclamation. This would be only helping. If you emailed some people here your URL then it takes away from the freebie advice and then you would have to hire them:-) > The only reason I replied to this was that hopefully to recommend to > others reading this not to post their URL into public view, unless you > want your competitors to make the same changes to their site as you are. > :-) > > NEVER let em see you bleed - > Well, have you seen what you compeitors have done to gain their positions? Have you got links? What about the link text(anchor text) to your site? What kind of titles, descriptions, headings etc are you using? This are just things we look at and try and point you in the right direction. Stacey <snip> |

If you emailed some people here your URL then it takes away > from the freebie advice and then you would have to hire them:-) On top of which, you never know, some of us here might just find your products / services too tempting to resist and end up purchasing something from you.... Keeping your URL secret isn't the best SEO practise going! As Stacey said we would just be giving you some SEO ideas, the sort of thing that can be found for free all over the web anyway... If your competitors subscribe to this newsgroup and read its posts, then it is likely that they are one step ahead of you anyway. They are only going to start worrying about the SEO (and other online or offline promotion) tactics you are using if you are doing better or at least level with them, and at that point they will be attempting to see what you are doing whether you have posted your URL here or not. > > > > The only reason I replied to this was that hopefully to recommend to > > others reading this not to post their URL into public view, unless you > > want your competitors to make the same changes to their site as you are. > > :-) > > > > NEVER let em see you bleed - > > > > Well, have you seen what you compeitors have done to gain their positions? > > Have you got links? And all these things and most others we would suggest are all transparent meaning that your competitors (if they are interested) would be able to see what you had been up to if it was mentioned here or kept quiet.
