Selling a franchise

Does anyone know the best place to sell an existing franchise? My brother in law has a fresh fast food restaraunt that he wants to sell and I did not know the best place to advertise the business for sale.

Re: Selling a franchise

Most franchises have rules about selling your franchise i.e. cant advertise the name of the franchise, you must give the franchisor the right of first refusal etc. I would check the UFOC for specifics but I would go to the franchisor first

Re: Selling a franchise

If there are forums like this one that are focused on the franchises niche you may want to explore that if not I would advertise on BizBuySell - The Internet's Largest Business for Sale Marketplace or one of the other online business for sale classifieds sites.

Re: Selling a franchise

Some Franchisors help you sell the franchises but I think your best bet as the previous post explained is to put it up for sale online or if you do not feel comfortable dealing with potential buyers - find a business broker.

Re: Selling a franchise

Business brokers get up to 10% of the purchase price and in my experience they provide little value I would try to sell it yourself and use escrow.com or some other similar service to protect your investment.
