Domain Buying and Selling

I have a friend that is making decent money buying and selling domains. I was wondering if anybody else has had any experience doing it and how hard is it to make money.

Re: Domain Buying and Selling

We did not do it as a business but we were approached by someone to buy our domain and we did not need it anymore and we sold it for $700 not a bad deal!!!

Re: Domain Buying and Selling

I think it would be very hard to make money given how competitive it is. There are a number of tools like backordering, private auctions and other similiar things that make it a even playing ground. Although if you find just one big name you could make a lot of money.

Re: Domain Buying and Selling

I think most of the work with domains is speculative if you are doing it as a side revenue stream that maybe ok but not for your primary source of income. If you do it you may want to consider being a reseller because you can reduce your cost of acquisition in half for a reasonable cost and you may pick up some additional revenue on the way.

Re: Domain Buying and Selling

I agree with Salisbury it should not be a core business. Plus if you look at the some of the names that some of these brokers are trying to sell I do not know who would buy them!
