How do you find a good insurance broker?

The best thing you can do is check with other business owners in your area. The only thing I would strongly recommend is that you go with a broker who is not affiliated with any particular insurance company so they can shop for the best product.

I agree there are two types of brokers those who are tied to an insurance company and those who are not. An independent broker is the way to go. One way you may want to go is to go to your personal home insurance broker if you are happy with them because many of them sell business insurance.

One way to find out if they have had some significant training in a particular field is to look at their designations here are a few:

Education Programs

The best think you can do is look at their online site and then research the designation.

Once you have identified a few ask for references and talk to their clients and see how happy they are with the performance of the agent.
